Assistant Editor

UKIP Media & Events Ltd in Dorking, Surrey, has a rare opportunity for two talented and enthusiastic Assistant Editors to join our dedicated team of Editors.

One successful candidate will work on our industry-leading airport and logistics titles, while the other will get a chance to join the team behind our cutting-edge automotive titles.

Responsibilities in both cases will include chasing copy, subbing and proofing content, sourcing pictures, carrying out interviews, editing and captioning pages, and writing articles and news.

There will be some international travel and the requirement to attend industry events. Only those with at least one year’s journalism experience should apply, and ideally candidates will have a good grasp of InDesign and some experience writing about or interest in the aviation, postal or automotive sectors.

Salary commensurate with ability and experience.

International Magazine and Exhibitions Sales

We currently have 3 positions for exhibition sales people who will have at least 2 to 3 year’s space selling experience preferably in the B2B sector. We also have potential for really expert new business sales people who have a proven track record in launching new magazines and exhibitions. We work principally by phone internationally, augmented by participation at trade shows, many of which are our own events. You will therefore be office based most of the time, travelling three to four times a year, typically for a week at a time.

Our packages are tailored to suit different levels of experience. Most of our sales staff earn at least £70K per annum, many earn substantially in excess of £100K per annum. This is a fast moving progressive organisation with high-quality offices in Dorking, a 15-year track record of success, an ability to deliver real satisfaction to clients and a friendly team of 140 staff.

Assistant Exhibition Co-ordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Exhibition and conference managing and organising department for someone to assist the team. The role is primarily to assist the Head of Department in chasing up proposals, venue agreements, signage designs and hotel and travel arrangements. During peak exhibition periods, assistance will also be given to the four Exhibition Co-ordinators in working with exhibitors with their stand design and production requirements, showguide entries and other exhibition details.

The role is ideal for someone with any organisational type of experience, i.e. administrator, secretarial, meeting organiser, etc. Exhibition or conference experience is not required as training will be given, however this would be an advantage. Several years' experience working in an office environment is important.

The role is full time and initially office based, but brings the possibility to develop some foreign travel as appropriate. Successful, interested and motivated individuals will have the possibility to progress to full Exhibition Co-ordinators.
